There are a fair few threads about varioust solutions to the Jita lag, most of them end up involving smartbombs and such so here is a fresh one with a (hopefully) quite different approach.
At the moment most people go to Jita for a few very specific reasons:
1. "Everyone else" go there to trade so very active market. 2. To create and bid on contracts due to 1. 3. Saving time fitting a ship as everything is available in one station. 4. Good place to find war targets as well as haulers to suicide
Let me introduce my solution, the distributed market hub.
The Jovians felt sorry for the other races in the current market situation and shared some new technology. With this technology it all of a sudden was possible to terminate three long range wormholes inside special purpose built stations. Due to the limitation of the number of wormholes only four of these stations could be connected to each other, one in each of the solar systems containing trade hubs (Jita, Rens, Amarr and Oursulaert).
Thanks to those permanent wormholes anything put on the market in such a station would instantly be available at the other three stations as well. As this stations not only will advertise your products across the four connected regions but also transport it to the buyers station the tax had to be adjusted slightly compared to normal stations.
A side effect of this is that contracts can be claimed across the same interstellar wormholes. Say player A create a contract in Jita 5-5 Interstellar Trade Hub for a CNR, player B currently flying around in Heimatar will see the contract as available in Rens and place his bid. However player C in Amarr is really keen on a CNR and buy it using the buy out option. A few minutes later he undock from the station in his fully fitted new ship.
Pros
+ No need to go to Jita unless you are in Caldari space as the same items will be available at closer regional market hub at the same cost. + Suicide gankers can still catch fat haulers in each market hub as you still have to move the goods to the final destination. + Courier contracts will remain as they are as InterBus still do what they do and don't move peoples goods.
Cons
- Trading between the four hubs today will die as we know it. - Jita local might have to be replaced with a dedicated trade channel for scammers and such.

You will still have to travel, just not to Jita.

Originally by: Eleana Tomelac A unified market of all those big markets would be death to the database...
Not necessarily as the bottleneck is the SOL servers, not the database as it is running around 20% load according to a dev post a few weeks ago.
The market in Dodixie will not die from this change as Oursulaert still is some 10 hops away in a different region. If anything Dodixie will expand as more dedicted traders will be based out of Oursulaert supplying and buying from the surrounding markets.
Market buy orders with a 5 hop range placed in Amarr will only cover 5 jumps from Amarr with the addition of the three remotely connected stations as today. It will not be 5 jumps around each of the connected stations. Also when you look at sell orders you will see exactly what you see today from your current area, just that the hub itself will contain a few more entries. It's not as if you would be watching every order in all four regions.
If you look to buy a Miner I in Heimatar you will not see any of the Miner I's for sale in Perimeter (1 hop from Jita). However you will see the ones for sale locally (like now) and the ones for sale in the Jita, Oursulaert and Amarr stations will show up as market orders placed in the Rens station.

Originally by: Caldorous Yulai was killed so eliminate a trade hub, and you are conspiring to make a supertradehub with some wormholes? I dont thing it will work. CCP once tried to distribute the trading, i dont thing they will follow your idea to reunite the trading again...
Yes Yulai was killed as a hub and shortly after Jita took over. And if Jita is killed something else will instantly take over. The problem is that today there are no reason to start trading at a new hub as long as a lot of buyers and sellers still go to Jita regardless of lag.
Don't think of my suggestion as a "supertradehub", it's much closer to a web shop where each hub act as the post office where you send and receive the goods traded "online".
The end result is multiple hubs with the benefits of Jita but without the drawback of actually going there as you have three other locations with the same products for sale.
